Despite the restrictions placed upon us during 2020-2021 due to the Covid-19 Pandemic, preaching has continued wherever possible, sometimes virtually and with the help of social media lives. This isn't the first time that open-air preaching has been hampered by a pandemic. Throughout the years and centuries evangelists have responded to plagues and epidemics.
If anything, preaching becomes more prevalent during a pandemic, people are more inclined to listen, to pray, to ask God to heal their loved ones. Faith has the opportunity to flourish to a higher level in believers, and to grow in souls previously unsure of their belief. Evangelists can distinguish themselves from the rest of the world upon the once bustling streets they were previously ignored on.
As life returns to normal, will we be mistreated by the ignorant in the way some of us were pre-pandemic? Will we be screamed at, asked to move on, spat upon or even physically attacked? Perhaps as the quiet streets fill up with footsteps once again, those footsteps will slow as they pass us by. Those ears will hear us, the bodies they belong to will remember the prayers they offered up during the difficult times of lockdown. The individuals may not be so dismissive of the Gospel and souls may finally be ready to be saved.
